HOW IT WENT DOWN...
If you took a heavy melodic witty band, imbedded with all the characteristics of the "pop culture", choreographing, harmonies, big HOOKS, and attractive guys, you'd come up with GOLD MIND SQUAD. The band formed through friendship and their shared intense desire to be one of the biggest rock bands on the planet.
Since they spawned onto the Mid Atlantic Scene in July of 2001, (dave, skittles, blaven and rooobyn) have surged forth a following of obsessively loyal fans ranging from 14-25 year olds. Several fan sites put together by showgoers continue to amplify this regional anomaly.
Broadening their fan base through self-promotion, a street team, radio promotion (from buying ads) and their off the wall live shows, Gold Mind Squad started releasing home recorded demos to get songs circulating. After 7 months of regional touring and saving money from merchandise sales, Gold Mind Squad checked into Wright Way Studios. They cranked out 3 songs produced and mixed by Steve Wright (SR71, Jimmies Chicken Shack) and upon completion, sent them to L.A. where they were mastered by Joe Gastwirt (311, Pearl Jam etc.). With the 3 song EP as an audio representation of single quality material, the band started circulating the ep.
Soon thereafter they caught the attention of Tony Couch (McGathy Promotions, RockStar2k). Tony brought the band up to New York City for a showcase. It was there that they grabbed the attention of Bill McGathy (president of Indegoot Entertainment and manager of 3 Doors Down, Chevelle, Puddle of Mudd) and Nick Ferrara (lawyer of Trust Company, Vanessa Carlton, Chevelle, Creed). Now, with a rock solid team behind them, they are currently in the process of securing a major label deal and from there the sky's the limit.
